Gore Expansion Public Hearing

ORDA and DEC held a public hearing to accept comments on the Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement and the Gore expansion to connect to the North Creek Ski Bowl on Tuesday, March 4th. About 75 people attended and as many as 15 offered comments. Others may have submitted written comments. In theory verbal and written comments are given equal weight and there was a court stenographer making a transcript, but many believe that written comments have a greater impact. Nonetheless, about 15 people (I wasn't really counting) made comments. Some polticians made speeches to impress the audience, while several state government employees entered comments to show that their agencies were in attendance and participating. The comments were overwhelmingly positive and supportive of the Gore expansion and the construction of Ski Bowl Village. Several of our community's more colorful residents made highly amusing presentations that had little relevance to the public hearing, but provided entertainment! Some in the audience think that one presentation began with the words "I've been talking to psychics...". I guess that we'll need to check the transcript on that one! In any event, I'm confident that Gore will receive the green light to proceed by the end of the May Adirondack Park Agency meetings.
